Use E-mail for contact and membership, to ask qustions, make suggestions, ask for help, contribute to discussion, get some research help, and to help others if you can. You can direct your questions and answers to individuals only, or you can "broadcast" the one message to many... to a selection of
E-mail addresses contained in your E-address book.
E-mails to ADU are checked daily and problems answered in
that day.

GO:

......to send an E-mail message to ADU while you're using the site (while you're "on-line"),
click on the "E-mail ADU" link on any page. In this tutorial, we've done so on the front or "Home page" of the site. This will...

  • Note: that many Web masters or designers include a request for feedback about their site...this allows them to polish their product, make it easier to use, and to correct errors...particularly broken links (incorrect file addresses or URLs). Web masters appreciate your efforts.
Indicators: a "broken link" for a"picture" is a small icon with a jagged break across it...it sits there and never loads. For a "page" that is missing you usually get a 404 error message.

The TAB key, the ENTRY POINT,
and single and multi-line Text Boxes (Text Fields):

If you are not using your keyboard's TAB key to cycle DOWN through text boxes as a computer habit, then start practising now. You need to use this action confidently when entering data in any Website containing boxes...it saves time.

The TAB button moves your "entry point" to the beginning of the next box every time it is hit...line by line. If, as in ADU, there are text boxes with more than one line...then you must click on the next box with the mouse or stylus. A multi-line text box stops the TAB cycle...selecting the next single line text box starts the cycle from there.

Holding down the "shift" key and hitting the TAB key cycles UP the page. Browsers differ, so check the differences.

Quotable quote from the bottom of an E-mail:

"Quotes at the bottom of emails are like hard hats at Armageddon"

  • ....open a page in your E-mail application ("Outlook Express" for example)...
    ADU's E-mail address
mail@artsdownunder.com will already be inserted. This is very like the traditional "stamped and addressed envelope" of "snail mail'...but no paper...press the "TAB" key (see notes oposite) on your keyboard once and proceed to theTitle text box where you will...

  • ...type in theTitle or description of your contact...
Example: you have been editing your entry in ADU's database and you keep getting an error message and can't solve the problem...in this case, the subject of your E-mail to ADU for help needs to be titled "Edit error message"...type this in and
press TAB on your keyboard once to proceed to the Message text box where you will...

  • ...add your message...make it short and sweet, include your ID number, name, and operational address. Review it, correct it, sign it, send it.

  • Note: clicking on an E-mail link or button in any Website will open a page of your E-mail application and automatically place the target address in the appropriate place.
  • Hint: prepare your E-mails "off-line" as a draft in your E-mail application or in your Arts Management folder...don't type directly unless the message is small and you are a touch-typist...don't waste space or on-line time. Use "copy-and-paste".
  • Hint: keep a copy of ADU's E-mail address in this folder also...use it for contact when you are not visiting ADU, but are connected to the internet for a mailing session.

    Use
    mail@artsdownunder.com

    or
    mail@artsdownunder.com.au
    either will work.

  • Warning : as always, carefully consider the dangers of publishing a personal E-mail address in any public domain record...see "General Notes" in "About ADU".
